Hot summer looms?
India faces heat related weather disasters in summer months annually. In year 2003, heat waves killed more than 1.400 people and in last year another few hundred killed. The map shows last week’s extremely high temperature of sub-continent. Temperature values were not exceeded average values, but very high temperature over 40C in north central highly populated region draws the attention. See the area centered by Bhopal, Lucknow, and Jaipur cities. The summer heat in coming months will remain as a typical threat to millions of poor people in these Indian cities. Today’s weather information says monsoon rains in southern regions including giant city Mumbai have reduced the heat impact in those areas. But, Delhi city reported 39C today noon.
